  1. Welcome to Ireland! While I’m not based in Dublin myself, a large number of our garrison is. Hope you enjoy your stay!
  2. Hello and Welcome Fernando! Great to e-meet you and look forward to meeting you in person. We have a number of events coming up, next one being Cosmic Rebels Con, Sunday April 24th, in Enniscorthy, Wexford. It looks to be a well attended event with members from 501st, Rebel Legion and Reel Icons attending. Crew are always greatly appreciated, or even to meet and have a chat with the group. I'm certain some of our Rebel Legion members could assist with sourcing materials etc. although, if similar to 501st kits, most parts may need to be purchased from providers abroad.
  3. Hello and Welcome! Great to have another Waterford person on here Very friendly bunch, and now that we’re out of lockdown, events are starting to kick back up. As the guys mentioned, no urgency to dive straight into building / commissioning a kit straight away, but when you do, we’re more than happy to provide pointers and advise. Can always do with crew at our events to help support, take awesome photos and help those of us with kits that have limited visibility to, well, see and not bump into things. We have CRC coming up in Enniscorthy so could be a good opportunity to meet and greet in person. I joined with my first kit about a year ago, and hovered around the forums for the bones of 3 or 4 months before kicking that off. Any preferences or favourites?
  4. Welcome! No silly questions here at all. if you have any other queries or anything you’re unsure of, definitely drop a message. More than enough helpful folk here.
  5. Hello and welcome! Looking forward to seeing more rebel scum at our troops
  6. Bit late to the welcome - however, belated welcome (back!). Definitely keep us updated on how your projects progress and let us know if you need any guidance or pointers!
  7. Welcome Todd, delighted for another TK. One item I completely overlooked was storage and transport until it was mentioned to me. Woodies and Homebase occasionally have large wheeled storage containers which are ideal. I haven’t trooped yet, but I have an aker amp and trooper talk on my phone which work nicely. I’d strongly recommend a fan, although I still need to set mine up!
  8. Welcome to the forums! Very nice to do list - if you have any questions or need any direction on these - feel free to ask. We're a friendly bunch! Where's local for you? I'd recommend the Waterford Comic Book store as my local, however, may be a bit of a journey if you're based in Dublin
  9. Welcome! We're a friendly bunch - any questions - ask away!
  10. Excellent, more stormtroopers, can never have too many! Welcome!
  11. Welcome to the forums! Feel free to ask any questions or if you're unsure how to move forward, let us know. I'm certain someone can point you in the right direction, and definitely let us know how you are progressing! These may also be useful references; https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TC_SS_Denal_realistic https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TC_CW-animated_denal Try to avoid getting caught up looking into the microscopic detail just yet, like the guys said, do your research, take a few moments to look at the forums and go from there. Lots of great resources and if you're stuck or unsure, check in here and we're happy to help.
  12. Welcome! Great choice - definitely take a look at the BHG forums. Lots of info there. And definitely feel free to post or check in with any queries you have. I’m here only a few months and in the process of my first approval. I can confirm - very friendly bunch here
  13. BBB Day arrived and to say I’m delighted is an understatement!
  14. Welcome! The RS kits look very polished and was sorely tempted to get one during their Black Friday event.
  15. Depends on the detachment. When reviewing the CRLs, there are links to the relevant forums. At the top of the CRL, look for detachment, this will then have the link to the relevant forum, it is on the main 501st website, but there are sub forums here too with some good information! All great choices! Some kits have a lot of pieces, hence, when they arrive, they arrive in a big brown box
  16. Hello Ryan and welcome! Relatively new myself and only recently decided to start with a TK (Storm Trooper) and am waiting on BBB day (BigBrownBox Day). Definitely take a look at the forums Chris mentioned. There’s an absolutely huge amount of information there, so try not to get bogged down in the granular details to start. Look through the CRLs and think what you’d like and what suits you best and from there, refine your idea. There are also variants of storm trooper / Boba Fett etc based on movie / CRL you apply under - this is the granular detail I mentioned, try not to get bogged down by it. It delayed my decision by literally months Remeber, this is for you, the vast majority who see your kit won’t know the difference between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back TKs.
  17. So after much deliberation, I have finally started on the path towards ANH TK Build post setup, and somewhat patiently waiting for the kit https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/50439-anh-tk-build-ireland/?tab=comments#comment-708804
  18. Thanks very much! Does it take a day or so for the viewing rights to kick in? Guess I need to do a bit more reading into different materials - didn’t really ever consider ABS vs PVC or know the different until today. I’ll take a look through some of the other threads and see where best to start from.
  19. These aren’t the forums I’m looking for or maybe they are. I assume these are the ones where I need to be approved prior to getting access ???? a goal at least. Do you mould storm trooper pieces? In terms of what I’d like to build, Mandalorian / Trooper (Clone, Storm or First Order, I’m not biased) / Vader - all long term passion projects so not expecting to be done this year or maybe even next - what I intend to do - mix of display and functional for events eventually. - yes, can definitely see they’re not “cheap” to do. On PC builds drop me a message on what you’re looking for - RGB to the top or functional. https://pcpartpicker.com This website is a great resource and helps solve the few compatibility issues that still exist.
  20. Thanks very much and will definitely be checking in before I spend on anything reckless ???? In general, trying to decide what route to go down, would like to hear some opinions; (I’m looking for a long term hobby on top of passion projects, so thinking long term rather than get it done) For the trooper set; Buying a 3D printer versus buying the final pieces from reputable sources and painting / finishing myself. For the mandalorian set - I’m really taken by the thought of casting this from aluminium - thoughts? Do! When it comes to PC builds, it’s geared far more towards the amateur now with plug and play being the main driver of industry. Edit: *might be worth moving this from introductions to an appropriate sub forum - admins choice*
  21. Yes, found some of that late night reading material - thoroughly impressive detail. Do people tend to buy custom packs that lean towards level 1 and then slowly upgrade overtime, or is there a small industry of personally owned high quality 3D printers out there I need to consider getting in on?
  22. Thanks for the welcome! Trying to decide on scope of what I’d like to build - looking into a Mandalorian Armor set either going down the route of Jango/Boba, or maybe something recent like - Mando / Djarin. Alternatively, the staples of Storm/Clone trooper, Vader - etc. They’re all good.
  23. As the title says, hello! Recently signed up and checking out the forum materials. From Waterford, running out of DIY projects at home, and thought I might revisit an old passion of mine - figuring out how to build a Star Wars costume. Haven’t gotten very far with it in the past, but, never looked for help either! So, bit about me, work in finance, have a wife and daughter. Enjoy hobbies and have tried most things from building a pc to brewing cider. Have seen the 501st at a few events and thought it would be neat to eventually become part of the troop. That’s it really!
