SOOOOOOOOOON. My flight from Calgary leaves in 21 hours, which means about 29-30 hours until I land in Dublin, and I'm SO EXCITED!! I can't wait to meet all my Irish Legion siblings! So far it looks like: 1-2 September: in Dublin 3-8 September: on the tour! (And I've made it a personal goal to come home with an Irish Garrison glass coin. )

I'll have an Irish SIM card while I'm there, so I'll have data (which is a good thing, since I don't think the bus has WiFi!). Day One will be 3 September, leaving from what used to be Jury's Inn at 8:45 am. I'm not sure how long it'll take us to reach Portumna Castle from Dublin, so no idea what time frame I'll be there, but I'd love to meet up! =D

SO. My plans for my 2.5 weeks in Ireland just got upended due to my tour being cancelled (apparently they didn't get minimum numbers for the tour...). I'm in contact with the tour organizers to find an alternate solution. Worst case scenario, I'll get my money back and just do day tours from Dublin around the country. Hoping they can rebook me into a 7-day tour, or find a new 10-day tour for me to go with! I'll keep you posted as I know things. (And of course they do this with only one month to go before my trip. Argh.)

Flights: booked. Hostel: booked. Excitement: through the roof! It's happening, for real this time!! I'm coming to Ireland to meet all of you! So I've got a few days in Dublin proper to meet local troopers there, or I can meet up at any of the other stops on the tour's route! (On a semi-related note: I have a bucket list item of getting a new tattoo while I'm in Ireland. I figure my days in Dublin will be my best odds for having time for that! Any recommendations for a good artist/studio who will ink a tourist?)

So! I obviously did not make it to Ireland this past September (stupid adulting and budgeting...), but I AM still planning to come, I promise! The plan now is for September of this year. If all goes according to plan, I should be arriving in Dublin September 1st, leaving for the tour on the 3rd, and then back in Dublin on the 12th, flying out on the 15th (or 17th, depending on budget...). When we get closer to September and I can confirm I'll be there for real this time, I'll post up the tour itinerary so I can make plans around the country to see all my fellow troopers! =D

I'm planning on coming out to Ireland in September/October of this year (assuming we don't all get locked down yet again from covid...), and would love an opportunity to meet my Irish Legion siblings! I'm currently planning on a couple of days in Dublin, and a tour around the country over 10 days. And I'll definitely be making time during my trip to see fellow troopers. I won't be able to bring a costume with me for trooping (apparently Jawa robes are super heavy to take on a plane and take up a lot of luggage space. Who knew?), but I'd love to meet up socially with you folks!
