I'm planning on coming out to Ireland in September/October of this year (assuming we don't all get locked down yet again from covid...), and would love an opportunity to meet my Irish Legion siblings! I'm currently planning on a couple of days in Dublin, and a tour around the country over 10 days. And I'll definitely be making time during my trip to see fellow troopers. I won't be able to bring a costume with me for trooping (apparently Jawa robes are super heavy to take on a plane and take up a lot of luggage space. Hopefully we will be able to meet up by then. I live an hour from Dublin, so I could arrange to meet up when you are in Dublin. Let us know your plans for around the country when you have them arranged closer to your travel time. I obviously did not make it to Ireland this past September (stupid adulting and budgeting...), but I AM still planning to come, I promise! The plan now is for September of this year. If all goes according to plan, I should be arriving in Dublin September 1st, leaving for the tour on the 3rd, and then back in Dublin on the 12th, flying out on the 15th (or 17th, depending on budget...). When we get closer to September and I can confirm I'll be there for real this time, I'll post up the tour itinerary so I can make plans around the country to see all my fellow troopers! =D 1 1 Quote "If that thing eats us, you're fired." So I've got a few days in Dublin proper to meet local troopers there, or I can meet up at any of the other stops on the tour's route! (On a semi-related note: I have a bucket list item of getting a new tattoo while I'm in Ireland. I figure my days in Dublin will be my best odds for having time for that! Cashel, Galway and Kerry are all possible meeting points. My plans for my 2.5 weeks in Ireland just got upended due to my tour being cancelled (apparently they didn't get minimum numbers for the tour...). I'm in contact with the tour organizers to find an alternate solution. Worst case scenario, I'll get my money back and just do day tours from Dublin around the country. Hoping they can rebook me into a 7-day tour, or find a new 10-day tour for me to go with! I'll keep you posted as I know things. (And of course they do this with only one month to go before my trip. It might be worth seeing if you can find out from the tour company exactly what they have planned for you in Portumna. It could very well just be off the bus, organised tour of the castle, back on the bus. You might get a spare hour or so to explore on your own terms, but as you're doing Galway city the same day (another hour's drive away) I wouldn't be surprised if they bundled you all right back on the bus after the castle tour. Either way, I am only 10 minutes away, so I'd be happy to call down even if we did only get a few minutes to say hello and have a chat.
