Bumbleance Bucket Collection - Saturday November 12th

Event details

OK Guys, The Relay For Life and Bumbleance Ambulance Service and tow core charities we raise for every year.  The Bumbleance guys were a little late with the request and they struggled a bit finding a safe and secure place to get changed but they just contacted me now to say they got the Sandymount Hotel for us to get changed.  I believe the Bumbleance will be parked nearby and the guys will be doing a bucket collection there.  Short notice I know, but if anyone is free that would be grea.t

Hi Dave, are the timings above confirmed? Rugby k/o is 1pm so if it's at 3pm we'd be starting just as people are heading home, and by 4pm I'd say the area will nearly be empty.

Also, do we know if there's any parking available, or will we have to go with the DART?

OK, Ive been in touch with them again.  They're a little disorganised.  They want to change the time from 11 to 1.  But they've no advised that the hotel will only allow the boxes to be stored, they won't allow getting changed as they dont have the room.  They've asked could we change in the Ambulance.  We tried to do this before and it didnt work out great.  The numbers would have to be small and each trooper would have to get changed one at a time because there wouldnt be room for two (I dont think from previous troops with the Bumbulance).  They cant seem to secure anywhere nearby.  Thoughts?

Probably wise to give this a miss.

Go much going against it.

Very late request to say the least.

No where secure to change is a red flag alone.

And Whats the set up with this?

Are we just on the street with the bucket collections?

Or are we cordoned off?

Could be risky with such a big crowd and no crew.

Im leaning your way on this Ken.  Something is in the back of my mind that we had problems with a troop like this trying to change in an Ambulance. Its a bucket collection and we'll be in a huge crowd on the street.  Very risky without crew.

They've now come back to me to tell me that the hotel has agreed we can get changed in the toilets in the hotel.  I don't know guys, what do you want to do?

It's looking a bit dodgy, which is a shame. As it stands I'd probably have a near 2 hour drive to a park and ride and drag my kit box in on the DART. If I had a lighter kit which was easy to get in to I'd probably still be up for it, but without a decent sized area to get changed in, it's really not sounding practical. A real shame, it's a great cause.

Even though I won't make it, my thoughts on this would be similar to above... too late notice, too disorganised...

It is such a pity as it is such a great cause, but even asking people to change in the toilets is not ideal.  Maybe tell thiem that it is way too late to gether troops, and we would definitely support them at a future event, if we are given notice and secure changing areas.

Just my thoughts

Yeah it's not ideal really is it.......

Even moving to and from the changing area could be trouble if there is a large crowd around.

I know they have shopping centre collection plans for the near future and maybe if we used this as an example of what we need to be able to attend them.

Like More notice, proper changing and storage facilities etc so we can help them with future events.

I think that's a good call, folks.

Hopefully we can help them at future events.

It looks a bit too last minute. Lack of changing area is a big issue. Such a pity.
