Lakers Car Raffle - Saturday October 1st

Afternoon everyone.  I've copied and pasted below an event that Keith has been working on.  A lot of us have met Katie.  I called to her house over a year ago to present her with a 501st patch and some gifts.  Lovely family.

This troop is one that is very close to my heart, as it directly affects our good friend of the garrison, Katie!
 
Katie is a member of "Lakers", an organisation which supports adults and children with intellectual disabilities.  Katie is a very active member, and from speaking to Katie, her mom, and the people at Lakers, the services they provide are essential for all the members and their families.
 
Unfortunately, a few years ago, their club house burned down, and since then they have been using various premises to try and keep the club going, which has proven very tough and un sustainable for the future.
 
In order to rebuild their club house, and continue their services to those who need it, Lakers are doing numerous fundraising events, including raffling a car!  One of these fundraising events takes place in the Dundrum Shopping Centre on October 1st.  I think our presence at this event would be an amazing addition to help them fundraise and sell tickets.
 
The troop will be held at the Brown Thomas Entrance to the Shopping Centre.  We have been asked to stay around the area of the car being raffled and not to wander around the shopping centre.  We have also been asked not to hard sell, but we can nicely direct people over to the Lakers fundraising area. I have been liaising over the last number of weeks with the fundraising team at Lakers and helping to put this together. 
 
A secure room has been organised for us to change in and leave our belongings in, and there will be bottles of water for all troopers.  The room being provided by the Dundrum Shopping Centre is the Management Suite.

To anyone signing up for this troop.  I will be keeping you all up to date and informed of anything to do with the troop, and I will be there in plenty of time before the troop to meet you all as you arrive, and direct you to the secure changing rooms.  I will provide you all with my mobile number prior to the troop too, and will be contactable at any stage before the troop.  I will do everything in my power to make sure that this is run as efficiently and as smooth as possible.  This one really does mean a lot to me, as does the other one at the end of November.  Thanks!

Really really want to make this one for Katie. I'll do my damdest even if I can be there for a while. Provisionally signing up as imperial officer on pre clearance troop. And not sure how much extra help I'll be able to give but at least you'll have a naturally visually impaired crew as apposed to a bucket visually impaired crew😆😉

Andi, that would be totally amazing to see you at the troop, but do not put yourself under any pressure to be there.  It would be so awesome to finally meet you and see you at a troop!!! 🖤

Unfortunately, I am not able to update the post with who is trooping, so here is the list so far.  Really hope we get a few more on board too... it would be great to have a show of force there!

Thanks a mill guys, and will keep you all updated with any info that you may need.  I spoke to Katy and they did not get any free car parking passes, so I doubt we will get any either.  But will keep you all posted.

Hi folks.  Just an update on next Saturday.

I have just spoken to Sarah, one of the duty managers, and she has confirmed the use of the management suite / boardroom, for us to change in.  There is an information desk on Level 2, and Sarah said that if we go there, they will direct us to the management suite.  The manager on duty on Saturday will be a guy named Brian, and Sarah said he will look after us.

I was also asked to cap the numbers in attendance... so with the people who have signed up for the troop, that number is spot on, so we won't be signing up any else for the troop.

I will be there early, and I will have sussed out the room, and where the car is being raffled etc.  If anyone wants to meet up pre-troop for a coffee or some breakfast, that would be great!  I am not familiar with the shopping centre so if anyone has any suggestions?

If you need to contact me at any stage on Saturday morning, my number is 086 8354059.

So, in a nutshell...

Meet approx 11am, ready to troop at midday.  If people want to meet earlier for coffee / brekkie, we can meet at 10am?

Troop can finish at 3pm, but we are under no obligation to stay until that time. Whatever you feel like doing yourself.

Still don't actually know! I know I have to be there in the hospital, but no one has actually told me yet whether it's just another consultation or if they're actually getting around to removing my wisdom teeth. It will be a fun surprise 😂

Sorry to add to the casualties, but I'm laid up in bed with a respiratory virus and have been since Wednesday. Even if by a miracle I was better by tomorrow, I'd have to assume I was still contagious, and me attending wouldn't be fair on the rest of you. Gutted to be missing this one...
